Ridiculously superstitious horror fans had the chance to grab a vampire killing kit. It contained a crossbow with four silver tipped arrows, an ebony wooden stake, a large bottle of holy water, various surgical instruments and more, all in a solid mahogany box. It sold for $4,550.
Fans of ancient history could’ve treated themselves to a full sized Roman siege engine back in October 2008. The device called a ballista, was built for a BBC documentary several years earlier. It was 7.5 meters tall, 8.5 meters long and weighed 12 tons. Designed for laying siege to fortresses, it could fire a boulder up to 400 yards.
Fans of the hit sci-fi Battlestar Galactica show could’ve splashed out on the ultimate geek toy back in April 2009. NBC/Universal auctioned a genuine Cylon Fighter craft, as used in the show. Bidding for the 30-foot ship reached $28, 100,but this didn’t meet its reserve price.
According to inventor Paul Moller, “The M200X was the first VTOL aircraft of its kind ( flying car ) to fly successfully and did so repeatedly during the 1980s.” He planned to put the vehicle into production, but sold the original prototype on EBay.
After the breakup of a relationship, Ian Usher wanted a clean start, So the British man living in Perth listed his entire life on EBay – his house, his car, his job and even his friends. He raised $399,000 ( Australian dollars )
An optimistic EBay prankster tried to sell the entire internet for $ 1 million. The auction even included “free internet access”.
An uninhabited town 62 miles outside San Antonio was sold for just over $3 million. The town, known as Albert, contained a schoolhouse, a dancehall and a bar, along with a tractor shed, a three-bedroomed house and peach and pecan orchards.
After his divorce, 42 year old Larry Star sold his wife’s wedding dress on EBay. The auction attracted worldwide interest because of the hilarious commentary and pictures of Star wearing the dress. Justin Kelly of Bristol in England put a bucket of water on the site as a joke, but when people stated bidding, he turned it into a charity auction, raising over $400 in all.
Several people have tried to sell their vote in UK elections and by-elections on EBay. The authorities have always asked EBay to delete such auctions, as selling your vote in this way is a criminal offence.
Colorado resident Mary Walker opened an EBay auction for the snow she’d cleared off her drive. Bidding started at $0.99. “ I figured EBay has ghosts and all sorts of weird stuff, so why not snow?” she said.
The fingernail clippings of serial killer Roy Norris were sold for $9.99. The killer who, along with his partner, claimed at least five victims in California in 1979, tapped the clippings to the back of a Christmas card and penned a short greeting for the buyer.
A picture of a kettle sold on an Australian auction site showed a reflection of the photographer’s naked body. The picture kicked off a craze for getting naked and semi naked pics on other people’s websites, including several on EBay. It is known as ‘reflectoporn’ and is a sort of hi-tech streaking.
A grilled cheese sandwich with what looked like an image of the Virgin Mary sold on EBay for $ 28,000. It was bought by internet casino Goldenpalace.com which has a history of buying weird items from EBay.

An artist known as “Harold” was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2001. Realizing he would soon be unable to care for his wife, who had multiple sclerosis, he blew her brains out with a shotgun while she slept and then turned the gun on himself. His self portrait was sold on EBay.
Enterprising young women have made money out of sad, lonely men by auctioning themselves as ‘imaginary girlfriends’. The winning bidders get photos and love letters from the girl, so they can pretend to have apartner.
Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch offered lunch with himself at News Corporation’s New York headquarters, in a charity EBay auction, bidding started at $25,000 and the money went to a Jerusalem technology college.
A fan picked up Britney’s discarded bubblegum at a London hotel, and sold it on EBay. Some fans will buy anything…
A round of gold with Tiger Woods
In 2002, the Tiger Woods Foundation auctioned a round of golf with Woods himself and three other golfers at the Isleworth Country Club, in Windermere, Florida. The auction raised $425,000 for charity.
An auction offering advertising space on the seller’s bald head went for $30,100. Not a sum, but considering the advert is in the form of a tattoo, it’s certainly not easy money.
